The Covert’s high school improv comedy competition that provides professional training and performance opportunities for students.

 

How it works:

Your school improv team get 8 weeks of improvised comedy training with your own Covert improv coach and then you perform on stage at the Covert Theatre against other schools until we find the funniest school in Auckland.


It runs in 2 parts:
  1. The improv training
    - 8 x weekly 90-minutes workshops are at school at the time that suits you

  2. The improv performance
    - performed at the Covert on Thursday evenings

Dates: Term 2    28 April – 27 June
The workshops are run during Term 2 and the performances run throughout July & August

Investment: $980 + GST per entry. We also offer scholarships to help schools participate so ask us how we can support you.


FAQ:

  1. How many students can be in the workshops? A maximum of 12 students per entry.

  2. How big are the teams? Teams that perform are a minimum of four, maximum of six students. You can rotate students from the workshop group.

  3. Can we put in more than one entry? Yes, you can. This will give you more than one team.

  4. How many shows does each team get? A minimum of 2 shows, there may be more shows based on whether the team gets through the knock out stages.

  5. What are the benefits of improv? Fun, connection, sense of belonging, creative thinking, communication skills, confidence and a whole lot more.
