Submissions for the 2025 Fun Size Festival will open soon. There are no fees for submission.

Once we open submissions, please email your play to edith@coverttheatre.com

Playwrights will notified if their play has been accepted. Comedy genre only.

Fun Size Festival 2025 - we will open for submissions July 2024. Have a funny play inside of you? Then it’s time to write it down! Don’t worry, we’ll get it on stage for you.

Conditions:

  • Must be an original NZ work (ie: written by a New Zealander) that hasn’t been staged before.

  • Must be in the comedy genre.

  • Must be no longer than 15 minutes and no shorter than 2 minutes.

  • Must email 2 copies of your script - one named, one unnamed for the blind reading.

  • The Covert Theatre’s decision on selected scripts is final.

If selected, the Covert Theatre helps orchestrate directors, actors, crew. We also provide rehearsal space, performance space and tech crew at NO CHARGE. It’s a super easy and accessible way for your short play to be produced. And there is the potential for hundreds of happy theatre-goers to experience your work!
